NVQ Level 3

The Level 3 NVQ in Leadership and Management is for you if you are a practising first line Manager who has:
  • A tightly defined area of responsibility;
  • Some limited opportunity for taking decisions and managing budgets;
  • Responsibility for achieving specific results by using resources effectively, and;
  • Responsibility for allocating work to team members, colleagues or contractors.
If you feel this is a fair description of your role, then the level 3 standards in management are likely to be right for you. These standards are presented in units; for the Level 3 NVQ in Management you must complete 7 units, 4 of which are mandatory and 3 are optional drawn from a choice of 11. You should choose the units that are most relevant to the work you do, in which you can demonstrate that you are competent.

All managers working at Level 3 are expected to manage themselves, lead people, allocate work to people and ensure that Health and Safety requirements are met. These are therefore the mandatory units which form the core of every Level 3 managers NVQ.

In addition to this you may well promote equality of opportunity, encourage innovation, plan and implement change, develop productive working relationships, be involved in recruitment, or development of the people you manage, manage a budget or project, and help to improve of solve problems with customer service.
You should select three of the optional units that most closely match the particular responsibilities of your role from, from this list of activities.
