We have specialised trainers in the following areas:
- Assertiveness: An introduction to assertiveness and how, when used positively it can support all aspects of our lives. Can support staff working with those who express challenging behaviours.
- Care Planning: How to plan for an individual, ensure their needs are met and routinely monitored. Look at forward planning in the event of health deterioration or other injury caused by condition.
- Challenging Behaviour: Looking at why and how challenging behaviour is expressed, what could be the cause and how to manage it to the benefit of all.
- Common Induction: Students cover standards 1-6 through activity, scenario and case study learning based on the LSC workbooks to ensure understanding and preparation for working in the care industry.
- Communication: Students look at theory and practical aspects of communication, are given an insight to non-verbal methods by being introduced to Makaton (see www.makaton.org)
- Dementia: An introduction to Dementia and how to support those affected by it.
- Emergency First Aid: Please see the document to the right.
- Health and Safety: Students are introduced to legislation, policy and procedures. All aspects of health and safety for all working within the care sector.
- Infection Control: All aspects of infection including how to prevent and treat infection once in situ. Legislation, policy and procedures surrounding control and how to follow, maintain and review these.
- Lone Working: How to ensure all aspects of safety for all parties whilst working alone.
- Palliative Care: Looking at all aspects affecting those who are nearing the end of life. Focuses on the Gold standards framework guidelines.
- Safeguarding: All aspects of protection of service users covered. Insight into the signs and symptoms of abuse and how to follow protocol in the event of abuse.
- Recording and Reporting: Students will look at records that need to be kept, reasons why and how to complete them. Legislation, regulation, policy and procedures and why they are important.
- Rights and Responsibilities: Students are given an insight into holistic care planning, resident’s charters and how to respect choice.
